The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation (KRIHF) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the preservation, development, and public understanding of Knife River Indian Villages National Historical Site (KNRI).

The foundation assists in providing aid to the park and education to the public in cooperation with Knife River Indian Villages National Historical Site.

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation is a "Friends Group" that created the grass-root initiative to establish the Park Site at Stanton and now plans an expanded role to promote the historic site as an international tourism destination.

Northern Plains Indian Culture Fest
The "Northern Plains Indian Culture Fest" will be held on July 25 and 26 at Knife River Indian Villages NHS. The park is located one half mile north of Stanton, ND.

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation will be serving concessions available for the event. There is no admission or parking fee.

The event will encompass a wide range of activities exemplifying the Northern Plains tribes that frequented the Knife River area from several thousand years ago to the present. Rolling hills and the Knife River serve as the backdrop for this two day event, regularly scheduled programs and demonstrations by skilled artisans will highlight the Northern Plains Indian culture.

Activities will include archeology talks, flint knapping, beadworking, porcupine quill work, brain tanning hides, blacksmith trade items, Northern Plains dances, Indian flute music, Sahnish and Three Affiliated Tribes cultural demonstrations, and childrens activities.

Kid's Camp
The Knife River Indian Villages are hosting a free kid's camp on Tuesdays throughout the month of July. The camp runs from 9 am to noon on July 22 and July 29. Archaeology, bird watching, canoeing and hiking are just a few of the activities offered.

Youth can come for one day or all days of camp. Parents are asked to drop their children off at the 7 Trails Trading Post at the beginning of the day and can pick up the children after the morning activities at the visitor's center.
