April 24   National Jr. Ranger Day
Children ages 3-12 can complete the Junior Ranger and Junior Explorer booklets, participate in additional activities and receive a button and patch.
May 15   Seventh Annual Knife River Bird watching Event Gather at the 7 Trails Trading Post near the Knife River Indian Villages NHS for breakfast and bird watching 6:30 AM mountian time. Don’t forget to bring your field glasses.For more information call 701-745-3300

Tuesdays in July 2010   Kid's Camp
Children ages 6 to 12 can participate in half day activities at the park. Activities may include traditional crafts, canoeing and other outdoor endeavors.
July 24-25   Northern Great Plains Culture Fest
Cultural demonstrations and presentations of the lives of people that lived on the Plains. The event will encompass a wide range of activities exemplifying challenges of living on the Northern Plains. Rolling hills and the Knife River serve as the backdrop for this two day event. Numerous performances will focus upon lifeways activities that have occurred on the Great Plains for thousands of years.
September 14, 15, & 16   Lifeways of the Northern Great Plains
Three days of hands-on demonstrations with members of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. Demonstrations will focus on traditional activities. Lifeways is primarily for school aged children, but the general public is welcome. Educators interested in bringing a group should call the park and make a reservation, 701-745-3300.
