The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation (KRIHF) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the preservation, development, and public understanding of Knife River Indian Villages National Historical Site (KNRI).
The foundation assists in providing aid to the park and education to the public in cooperation with Knife River Indian Villages National Historical Site.

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation is a "Friends Group" that created the grass-root initiative to establish the Park Site at Stanton and now plans an expanded role to promote the historic site as an international tourism destination.
Continuing Project
In September 2009, the Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation met with The Lindsay Group from Bismarck, ND. They were invited them to come and facilitate discussion to help the Foundation develop a more defined focus. Read more...
7 Trails Trading Post Dedication
The 7 Trails Trading Post which is just north of Stanton was dedicated on August 1, 2009. Edwin Benson from Mandaree opened the dedication by saying a blessing. Marchie Stiefel, an original signer of the incorporation papers and one of the board of directors, was present and said a few words stating how pleased she was to see the progress that the Foundation has made since it became incorporated in 1985. . Board of Director Marilyn Hudson and her husband Kent came from Parshall and presented a gift to the Foundation. Donna Buchmann, president of the Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation, welcomed everyone and emceed the afternoon. Ray Kerns, architect and builder of the 7 Trails Trading Post, shared how this dream came to life with the help of so many people. Brian Kerns, web technician, informed the crowd of the donation of Network Solutions for the Foundation's website. Rose Laning, sec/treas. shared the timeline of events that led up to the building of the 7 Trails Trading Post building. Brian McCutchen, Supt. at KNRI, presented a plaque of appreciation to the Foundation and explained the Friend's partnership with the Park. It was a rewarding afternoon and cake and coffee was served to all the guests.
